SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Express-News) – Other cities may be experiencing home-financing woes, but mortgage brokers and Realtors in the Alamo City say there is little difference in the availability of financing for homebuyers. All that is required is a little more paperwork.

Lenders are generally more cautious, and buyers looking to borrow more than $417,000 are hard-pressed to find a lender, but many borrowers in San Antonio have not felt any significant effects of the shift in the lending market.

Most San Antonio lenders now require a 720 credit score to get the best interest rates, up from 680 last year. But even borrowers with lower credit scores are finding options in the conventional loan market.
Furthermore, 100 percent financing can still be found here, whereas in the rest of the country, no-money-down loans are all but nonexistent.
